Our modern and brightly furnished villa is located very close to the kite school, it has a large garden where our BBQ evenings take place once a week. In addition to the villa, you also have the option of booking a room at the Hotel Santa Maria, you can't get any closer to the spot and the hotel also offers the only pool in the area.
Our partnering kite school hosts our great team of instructors teaching with our brand new kitesurfing gear. As an added highlight, you can enjoy a fresh pizza right on site after a long day on the water - a lovely ritual that everyone always looks forward to!

Martin, Center Manager

"Much of Sicily's appeal has less to do with kitesurfing and more to do with the incredible food! Every season I look forward to the freshly made pasta with pistachio pesto, the catch-fresh fish, burrata and all kinds of sweet specialities. The absolute non plus ultra is the lagoon with its fantastic conditions for kiting for the teams of students and coaches. Flat, smooth water as far as the eye can see - this makes practising and teaching extremely pleasant and stress-free."

Kitesurfing in Sicily

Kitespot & Kiteschool

Enjoy one of the biggest flat water lagoons in Europe. Knee to waist-deep throughout, this is Lo Stagnone in Marsala!
There are two different wind systems suitable for kiting and the wind is always on! At the northeastern end of the lagoon, you’ll find the town of Santa Maria and our kite area where both wind directions are kiteable.
We have all the ingredients you need for a kitesurfing holiday including a wide area for setting up, launching and landing, showers, storage and also a restaurant. Access to everything is included with your Kitepass which is available for all of our KiteWorldWide packages.
As the lagoon is shallow, you’ll have perfect flat water and it’s so vast you’ll always find space to practice your first runs or nail new moves. Only in the very centre of the lagoon the conditions become slightly choppy.
In Sicily it is compulsory to wear a helmet and impact vest and children are only allowed to take part in kite courses from the age of 14. These rules have been enforced by the Italian Coast Guard since 2019.

Primesurf Events

This year you can again take part in the Sicily camps we offer via our partners at Primesurf. Their young experienced team will guarantee you’ll have great fun and will take your kite level to the next level!

Hotel Santa Maria - Santa Maria Residence

At the Santa Maria Residence/Apartments you are right in the front row when it comes to kiting. Right behind it is the Hotel Santa Maria, where you can have a delicious breakfast (included for guests of the hotel, not of the apartments) and access to the pool. The hotel and the flats belong together and were opened in April 2015 by an Italian family. The hotel is only 80m away from the spot and impresses with its high quality standard. Extra activities

EXTRA ACTIVITIES

NOT INCLUDED IN PACKAGE PRICE

Egadi Islands

The Egadi Islands are always worth a trip where you’ll discover a real paradise at any of the three islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo.
There are different routes and excursion packages available, although Favignana is the most popular and the easiest of the three to reach. The boats leave from the port in Trapani and Marsala and cost about 15 € per way. Day trips with stays on 2 of the islands, as well as lunch on board, are about 50 €.
We recommended an overnight stay on one of the islands to give enough time to discover the environment and relax. Accommodation is available for all budgets and you can explore on your own by scooter (15 € per day).
Mozia Island and the Salt Museum

The island of Mozia (Motya) is an ancient Phoenician city that shows off the beauty of its historical surroundings. You find old alleys, temples, mosaics and small museums like the Salt Museum next to the departure point for Mozia. Here you can learn about the traditional salt production methods and buy delicious organic salts from the lagoon (if you haven’t drunk enough of it during the day…)!
Just park your car or scooter at the “Imbarcadero” and from there you can go by boat to the island.

As an EU citizen, you do not need a visa to enter the country. However, please bring your national identity card or passport with you!
All non-EU citizens are welcome to contact us or their embassy for entry information.

There are many direct flights from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as flights with a stopover.
The closest airports are either Palermo or Trapani but as Palermo is quite crowded, allow at least 1.5 hours for check-in.
Some low-cost airlines fly to Trapani, which you will need to book yourself.

Palermo airport is about 1 hour away from the spot and the accommodation.
For the transfer from/to Palermo airport there is an extra charge of 200€ per car, i.e. 100€ each way.
The transfer from/to Trapani airport is 30€ per car or 15€ each way.
For cheaper options, we can alternatively offer you a rental car from Palermo.
In Sicily, the Euro is the official currency.

Depending on the accommodation you are staying you should be calculating 30-40€ extra a day for food and drinks.
At both the Hotel Santa Maria and KWW Villa, a hearty breakfast is included in the price.
In the Santa Maria Residence, breakfast is not included, but kitchenettes are available.
There are plenty of great restaurants and bars for all tastes and budgets in the vicinity of the spot and the accommodation. There is even a restaurant right at the spot!
We recommend renting a car, as this is the easiest way to discover all the beauty of Sicily and to easily reach restaurants and supermarkets in the area.
Free WiFi is available in and around the hotels.
  • Passport
  • Sunscreen (we recommend LSF30 and waterproof) and Aprés Sun Lotion
  • Beach towel and Flip-Flops
  • Light clothing (jumper, trousers for the evening)
  • Kitesurf beginners, who will be likely to walk in the lagoon, should bring thin neoprene shoes
  • Wetsuit
  • Kite Equipment (for guests who have not booked a course or rental equipment
In terms of kite sizes, you can generally expect 8-12 m in the high season and larger kites in spring and fall.
