It only takes a day or two before you feel like you already know the friendly and hospitable people of Kos. The little fishing village of Mastichari is home to our kite spot and has a real local feel away from the mass tourism prevalent in other parts of the island.

Kos is one of the only Greek islands where the conditions are great for both beginners as well as advanced kiters. Our VDWS licensed school sits on a wide sandy beach operated by Stefan, originally from Austria, who has spent his lifetime on the water. His team have developed their lesson structure to ensure a high level of safety with a maximum of two students per instructor. Using a unique coaching system via boat, they offer fast progression on the water as well as a lot of fun.
Our Kite House is conveniently located just a few minutes from the kite spot and town so you can easily walk everywhere. The house has 8 separate studios, each with its own balcony giving you your own private space. Group bonding starts over breakfast in the Aplo restaurant before heading to the beach for a day of kiting, and often ends with a drink or two at the beach bar too.
Our location is perfect for children to play on the wide sandy beach right in front of the kite spot, and our centre also offers windsurfing or stand up paddle lessons for them.
The wind season is longer than you might imagine and runs all the way from May until the end of October. The weather remains warm and sunny throughout the whole season, perfect to sit out on the terraces of the local Greek tavernas enjoying the delicious food on offer. As for all of our destinations, we have our own KiteWorldWide guide on-site happy to show you the best restaurants, kite spots and other sights in Mastichari.
Cheap flights depart several days per week. The Kite House is just a short 20-minute transfer from the airport.

Stefan, Center Manager

"The hospitality on Kos, the traditional flair in Mastichari and the different kite spots make the island so special for me. Whether it's a freestyle session, wave kiting or a round on the wing foil, everyone will have fun on the water here on Kos. And at the end of a long kite day, I look forward to a cold sunset beer on the beach with friends."

Kitespots & Kiteschool

The kitesurf spot in Mastichari is on the island of Kos and is perfect for beginners due to the constant wind and calm sea where we offer unique lessons from a boat. The spot is located directly on a wide sandy beach with exclusive access to a 400-meter launch area.
For intermediate and advanced kiters you have a lot of space to enjoy your freedom on the water to progress or learn new tricks. We even run a water taxi service when the wind is onshore to save you body dragging out to start your session.
Discover the other numerous kite areas on the island via our free shuttle service. If there’s no wind in Mastichari, we can organise day trips to different spots for you and your friends and family.

FIND THE PERFECT KITE ACCOMMODATION FOR YOUR NEXT STAY IN KOS

KITEWORLDWIDE KITE HOUSE KOS

Mastichari is a small, uncrowded Greek fishing village with several accommodation options for every taste and budget. Here you will find small, traditional privately run ‘pensions’ or apartments that contrast strongly with the huge hotel resorts in Kos town, Marmari or around the island. Our accommodation is a beautiful family-run hotel situated on the outskirts of the traditional village.
The KiteWorldWide House consists of eight studios, together with a communal terrace for evening barbecues, or simply relaxing after long sessions on the water. All studios are air-conditioned, have their own balcony or terrace, as well as a simple bathroom and kitchenette.

The studios in the newly renovated KWW Kite House Mastichari are not even 10 minutes (walking distance) away from the kiteschool. The studios are similarly equipped with a private balcony or terrace, an own bathroom, a small kitchenette, fridge, sink, dishes and air conditioning. The rooms are cleaned every day (except Sunday), towels and bed linen are provided and changed on request.
For families and people who are looking a little bit more space we offer the Elia Mare Apartment. The apartment is just 200m from the kite centre and is modernly furnished with two bedrooms, a spacious living room and air conditioning throughout.

Both of the two balconies have sea views as well as a fully equipped luxury kitchen. In the living room you’ll find a flat-screen TV, although you’ll be more likely want to enjoy the views!

Caravia Beach Hotel is the perfect place for the whole family. Not only is the hotel beautiful and modern, but it also offers everything you need to really relax on holiday and makes sure that the younger guests have a great time too!

There is a lovely restaurant, fitness, pool area and even a tennis court! The hotel also has its own beach, which is only 200m away.

For children, there is also an adventurous pool area with a pirate ship, a playground and much more!

CATERING

You are able to cater for yourselves in our KiteWorldWide house and apartments as the kitchenette in every room will allow you to prepare your own delicious meals.

There are many restaurants and bars in the area that serve delicious Greek food. For cosy evenings together, we also organise regular BBQs on the beach with the whole team and all KWW guests. It's the best way to end a long day on the water!
At the Caravia Hotel you enjoy full board. So you don't need to worry about your meals and can concentrate fully on your kitesurf holiday in Kos.

Kitesurfing in Greece - Kitespots on Kos, Kitesurfing School in Mastichari and Kitesurfing Conditions in Greece

KOS KITESURFING CONDITIONS

Are you an enthusiastic kitesurfer looking for the perfect spot? Then kitesurfing on Kos is for you. The island is as versatile as the kitespots, you can learn to kitesurf on Kos, use the kicker waves for jumping or get your first taste of wave kiting. You can also learn to wingfoil or windsurf in Kos.

OVERVIEW OF THE BEST KITESPOTS ON KOS

On the beautiful sandy beach of the small fishing village of Mastichari we kite with constant wind and lots of space on the water until sunset! This is the main kitespot and the permanent kite school, the other kitespots are reached by the mobile kite station, the 4x4 fire truck (also shown in the video).

In Marmari, the second kitespot on Kos, you have the opportunity to learn wingfoiling and windsurfing. In Marmari, the Meltemi wind is strengthened by the jet effect, which is why we often go to Marmari when the wind direction is not so good for Mastichari.

The third kite spot on Kos is Kohilari, where you have the best chance of getting a clean wave for wave kiting.

WIND AND WEATHER ON KOS

It gets summery warm on Kos from April onwards, temperatures around 20 and 25 degrees are not uncommon, from June onwards the temperatures rise to around 25-30 degrees during the day. The Meltemi provides the necessary wind for kitesurfing, the prevailing wind direction is north-west, so the wind arrives side-on or onshore in Mastichari in summer.

KITESCHOOL AND KITE COURSES ON KOS

We have had a wonderful collaboration with Stefan and Joe's kite school in Mastichari for many years. There you will get kitesurfing lessons from licensed instructors, a full kite spot briefing and really good support around kitesurfing, so you can progress quickly and safely.
